Three months. 40% less water.

A 168-unit New York City building cut its water use 40% within a three-month report period, with micrometers on toilets alone. Snapshot: Multifamily · 168 units · 336 tenants · Scope: toilets only · Report period: 3 months · Result: 40% less water, $17,352 off the monthly water bill in three months

The property

A 168-unit apartment building in New York City with 336 tenants and a local combined water and sewer rate of $11.63 per HCF.

The challenge

The building was using 30,939 gallons a day, or 92 gallons per tenant, and water cost $85.90 per unit every month. The bill showed the total, never the source. Running toilets and overuse don't trigger alarms, so the waste kept flowing, billing cycle after billing cycle.

The solution

DrizzleX installed its patented micrometers on every toilet across the property. Data is transmitted by LoRa, the same low-energy radio technology that utility meters use. The dashboard flagged leaks and overuse at the unit level, with alerts prioritized by cost so maintenance fixed the most expensive waste first. City water bills then confirmed the results in real dollars.

The results: three-month report period

‍

Why it matters:

Results show up fast. The building main shows consumption drop the day waste stops, and within three billing months the city bill confirmed a 40% reduction, from toilets alone.
